Painter from grandfather to grandson,
I look after several family gardens.
The emotions that grow there are carefully selected
to make them exist through my paintings.
These flowers are free to be empty, big or small,
anyway, the previous owner didn’t want them anymore.
So I make contrasting bouquets out of them.
The kind you set in the middle of a wooden table,
varnished with shared memory.
I try to write the poetry of an island territory.
I try to write, full stop.
For that, I draw from my childhood books
and a few stories too long to tell.
And then I breathe out onto much more than canvases,
onto sails, onto pillars.
